NEW PERMANENT OBSERVER OF THE COUNCIL OF EUROPE PRESENTS LETTER OF NOMINATION TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNITED NATIONS OFFICE AT GENEVA

Dragana Filipović, the new Permanent Observer of the Council of Europe to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented her letter of nomination to Michael Møller, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to her appointment to Geneva, Ms. Filipović served as Head of the Office of the Council of Europe in Azerbaijan since 2014. A career diplomat, she served as Permanent Representative of Serbia to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, France, from 2009 to 2013. She served as Counsellor for Political Affairs at the Embassy of Serbia and Montenegro to the United States from 2001 to 2005; Counsellor for United Nations Security Council Affairs at the Department for the United Nations and International Organizations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia from 1998 to 2001; and Political Officer at the Mission of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia to the United Nations in New York from 1992 to 1997.

Ms. Filipović was born in Belgrade on 29 August 1958 and is a Serbian national. She has a degree in international law from the University of Belgrade, Faculty of Law, in Serbia (1985).
