New Permanent Representative of Cambodia Presents Credentials to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva
Ke Sovann, the new Permanent Representative of Cambodia to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Tatiana Valovaya, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.
Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Ke had been serving since 2023 as Under Secretary of State in charge of United Nations affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
Mr. Ke has served in Cambodia’s diplomatic service for over 20 years. From 2018 to 2022, he was Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Cambodia to the United Nations in New York, as well as Ambassador to Canada. He has also held the positions of Deputy Director-General of the General Department of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (2015–2017) and Director-General of the Trade Promotion Department at the Ministry of Commerce (2014–2015).
This is his second posting to Geneva. From 2005 to 2014, he served as Commercial Counsellor and Deputy Permanent Representative of Cambodia to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva, representing Cambodia in multilateral trade negotiations.
Mr. Ke holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the Institute of Economics in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, and a Master of International Trade and Investment Law from Deakin University in Melbourne, Australia.
