New Permanent Representative of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea Presents Credentials to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva

Jo Chol Su, the new Permanent Representative of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Tatiana Valovaya, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Jo served as Director General of the Department of International Organizations within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea since 2020.  He has held several positions in the Ministry, including Junior and Senior Officer within the Department of International Organizations, and Division Head, Deputy Director General and Director General of the Department of North America.

Mr. Jo has extensive experience working with the United Nations, having served as First Secretary within the Permanent Mission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to the United Nations Office and Other International Organisations in Geneva, as well as a National Staff Member for World Food Programme and United Nations Development Programme delegations in Pyongyang.

Mr. Jo graduated from Pyongyang Foreign Languages University in 1993, and has been awarded several Korean decorations and medals.  He is married with two children.
