New Permanent Representative of Peru Presents Credentials to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva

Ana Cecilia Gervasi Diaz, the new Permanent Representative of Peru to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented her credentials to Tatiana Valovaya, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to her appointment to Geneva, Ms. Gervasi Diaz had been serving as Minister of Foreign Affairs of Peru until November 2023.  During her extensive career, she held the positions of Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Vice Minister of Foreign Trade at the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism; and Director General of Economic Promotion and Director of Investment Promotion at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, among others.

Her foreign postings include being Consul General of Peru in Toronto, Canada; Consul General of Peru in Washington D.C., United States; Minister Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of Peru to the United Nations in New York; Political Counsellor at the Embassy of Peru in Buenos Aires, Argentina; and Delegate at the Permanent Mission of Peru to the United Nations Office at Geneva, where she represented Peru at the World Trade Organization.

Ms. Gervasi Diaz has a law degree from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú; a postgraduate degree in international relations and a professional degree in diplomacy from the Diplomatic Academy of Peru; and a master’s degree in international relations from the London School of Economics.  She also carried out specialised studies in multilateral diplomacy at the Graduate Institute of International Studies at the University of Geneva, Switzerland, and doctoral studies at the Faculty of Law at the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
