New Permanent Representative of  Lao People’s Democratic Republic Presents Credentials to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva

Latsamy Keomany, the new Permanent Representative of Lao People’s Democratic Republic to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Tatiana Valovaya, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva. 

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Keomany served as Director-General of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic since January 2019. He was Ambassador at Large and Acting ASEAN Laos SOM Leader at the Ministry from 2018 to 2019. From 2011 to 2018, he was Permanent Representative of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic to ASEAN in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Mr. Keomany served as Director-General, Economic Affairs Department, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2007 to 2011. He was Deputy Director-General, Department of International Cooperation from 2003 to 2007. He worked at the Ministry of Planning and Investment as Deputy Director-General, Department of International Cooperation from 1999 to 2003, and as Director of the Bilateral Division at the Department of International Cooperation from May 1994 to 1999. He worked at the Ministry of Trade and International Relations from 1988 to 1992.

Mr. Keomany has a Master of Business Administration from the University of Queensland (1993-1994) and a Master of International Economic Relations from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (1982-1988). He was born on 24 November 1963 in Vientiane, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, and is married with three children.
