NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF SENEGAL PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNITED NATIONS OFFICE AT GENEVA

Presentation of Credentials

Coly Seck, the new Permanent Representative of Senegal to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Michael Møller, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Seck had been serving as the Director of the Cabinet of the Foreign Minister of Senegal since November 2012. From February 2012 to October 2012, he served as Director for international organizations at the Foreign Ministry of Senegal, and from January 2011 to January 2012, he served as Director for Africa/Asia at the Ministry.

Mr. Seck served at the Mission of Senegal to the United Nations Headquarters in New York from November 2004 to December 2010, where he was in charge of political, disarmament, and international peace and security issues. Other duties that Mr. Seck has held at the Ministry include Director for Africa/Asia at the Foreign Ministry from October 2002 to October 2004, and Director for the Africa Division at the Ministry from October 2001 to September 2002.

Mr. Seck has represented Senegal at numerous regional and international conferences and summits. He has a Master degree in Legal Sciences and Public Law from Université Cheikh Anta Diop de Dakar (1998) and a Bachelor degree in Public Law from the same University (1997). He was born in Thies, Senegal, on 18 April 1973 and is married with three children.
