NEW PERMANENT OBSERVER OF WEST AFRICAN ECONOMIC AND MONETARY UNION PRESENTS LETTER OF NOMINATION

Presentation of Credentials

Amadou Dieng, the new Permanent Observer of the West African Economic and Monetary Union, today presented his letter of nomination to Michael Møller, the Acting Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Dieng had been serving as Director for Competitiveness at the West African Economic and Monetary Union since 2007, after having worked at the Union on issues of competitiveness from 2001 to 2007.

Mr. Dieng served as Technical Counsellor in charge of judicial affairs at the Ministry of Commerce of Senegal from 1995 to 2001. From 1996 to 2001, he was Government Commissioner and Secretary-General of the National Commission for Competitiveness in Senegal, and from 1992 to 1995, he served as Chief of the Division of Litigation and Legislation at the Ministry of Trade of Senegal.

Mr. Dieng was born in Kaolack in Senegal on 7 April 1956. He has an M.A. in business law (1981) and a Diploma from the National School of Administration and Judiciary of Senegal, economic investigations section (1983).
