NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF NEW ZEALAND PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNITED NATIONS OFFICE AT GENEVA

Amanda Ellis, the new Permanent Representative of New Zealand to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented her credentials to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to her appointment to Geneva, Ms. Ellis had been serving at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of New Zealand as Deputy Secretary for the International Development Group and Head of the New Zealand Aid Programme since 2010. She also worked at the Ministry from 1988 to 1997 in various capacities, including as Regional Programme Manager for New Zealand Official Development Assistance to Viet Nam, Lao People’s Democratic Republic and Cambodia from 1996 to 1997, and Deputy Head of Mission and Consul to the French Pacific Territories from 1992 to 1995.

Ms. Ellis worked in the private sector or with international organizations from 1985 to 1988 and from 1998 to 2010. She has an MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management (1998 to 2000), an MA from the University of Hawaii (1986 to 1987), and a BA from the University of Otago in New Zealand.
