NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF GHANA PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO THE DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF THE UNITED NATIONS OFFICE AT GENEVA

Sammie Pesky Eddico, the new Permanent Representative of Ghana to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Eddico had been serving as Chief of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration in Accra since 2010. From 2006 to 2010, he served as Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Ghana in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and concurrently as Deputy Permanent Representative of Ghana to the African Union.

A career diplomat, Mr. Eddico has held many positions. Among foreign posts, he served as Charge d’Affaires at the Embassy of Ghana in Brasilia, Brazil from 1998 to 2002, and as First Secretary, Counsellor and Head of Chancery at the Embassy of Ghana in Bern, Switzerland, from 1992 to 1996. He has also held a number of positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration in Accra, including as Director of the Policy Planning, Research and Monitoring Bureau from 2005 to 2006, and Acting Director of the Bureau from 2003 to 2005.

Mr. Eddico has a B.A. in Russian and French from the University of Ghana in Legon (1979-1984). He has also undertaken extensive professional training in diplomacy, foreign affairs, international relations, economic diplomacy and public administration from institutes in Bulgaria, Germany, Kenya, China and Ghana. He was born on 13 August 1958 in Likpe Agbozome, Ghana. He is married with three children.
