NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF MADAGASCAR PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNOG

Presentation of Credentials

Albert Camille Vital, the new Permanent Representative of Madagascar to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Mr. Vital was Prime Minister of Madagascar from December 2009 to November 2011. He is a Malagasy army officer and politician and holds the rank of Brigadier General. From December 2007 to December 2009, he was President of the Chamber of Commerce in Toliara and President of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce in Madagascar.

Mr. Vital, who has a degree as a civil engineer from the former Soviet Union, has had extensive military training and has spent most of his career in the military. He studied at the Military Academy in Antsirabe in 1976 and underwent military training in France, where he received diplomas from the Collège interarmées de défense. He was born on 18 July, 1952 in Toliara and is married with five children.
