NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF THE COMOROS PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNOG

Presentation of Credentials

Sultan Chouzour, the new Permanent Representative of the Comoros to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Sergei Ordzhonikidze, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Chouzour served as Ambassador to Belgium since 2001. Before that, he was Counselor to the President from 1999 to 2001 and Director of the President’s Cabinet between 1998 and 1999.

Mr. Chouzour also served as Minster for National Education, Public Health, Youth and Sports in 1998 and held various positions in the Government between 1995 and 1998. His first diplomatic assignment was as Ambassador to France, Belgium, the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization and the European Union, all at the same time, between 1991 and 1995.

Mr. Chouzour has a Master’s degree in philosophy from the University of Provence, France. He also holds a Ph.D. in anthropology from the French National Institute for Languages and Eastern Civilizations. Over his career he has also taught philosophy, psycho-pedagogy and communication techniques. He was born in 1950 and is married with five children.
