NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF INDONESIA PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNOG

Dian Triansyah Djani, the new Permanent Representative of Indonesia to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Sergei Ordzhonikidze, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Djani had been Director General of ASEAN Cooperation since 2005, serving as Head of Delegation to the ASEAN Standing Committee and representing Indonesia in many ASEAN conferences and meetings. From 2002 to 2005, he was Indonesia’s Director for Multilateral Trade and Investment, a post which put him in charge of negotiations on many World Trade Organization issues, as well as the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization. He has extensive experience in various regional and international fora, including those related to the United Nations.

A career diplomat, Mr. Djani has been posted at the Permanent Mission of Indonesia to the United Nations in New York from 1991 to 1994, and the Permanent Mission of Indonesia to the United Nations Office at Geneva from 1997 to 2001.

Mr. Djani founded Indonesia’s WTO Forum and is publisher of “Sekilas WTO”, a noted publication on WTO issues.

Mr. Djani has a BA in economics from the University of Indonesia, specializing in international trade and development, and has an MA in international trade from the graduate programme in economic development at Vanderbilt University (1990). He was born in Jakarta on 9 July 1962, and is married with a son.
