TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNOG

Presentation of Credentials

Li Baodong, the new Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Sergei Ordzhonikidze, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Li had been serving as China’s Ambassador in Zambia since 2005. He served as Director-General of the Department of International Organizations and Conferences at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China from 1998 to 2005.

A career diplomat, Mr. Li worked at the Beijing Service Bureau for Diplomatic Missions of China from 1979 to 1986, before joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs where he worked first in the Ministry’s Information Department before moving to the Department of International Organizations and Conferences.

Mr. Li was born in April 1955 and is a native of Beijing. He is married with a son.
