Since its inception, the United Nations has been actively protecting and promoting the health and well-being of people everywhere. Successful awareness and preventative campaigns targeting diseases, sexual, behavioral and other health concerns, as well as increased access to clean water and better nutrition have already improved quality of life for millions around the world.
The third goal of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development includes ensuring access to quick and affordable medicines and vaccinations for all. Despite significant progress, a lot of work still needs to be done for global health to be achieved. By 2030, the UN aims to eradicate a number of communicable diseases and combat widespread epidemics in order to substantially reduce the number of deaths and illnesses worldwide.
