New Permanent Representative of Albania Presents Credentials to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva

Presentation of Credentials

Dastid Koreshi, the new Permanent Representative of Albania to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Tatiana Valovaya, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Koreshi served as the Permanent Representative of Albania to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg from 2021 to 2026, where he also served as a Counsellor from 2011 to 2014.  As a career diplomat with more than 25 years of experience in the Albanian diplomatic service, he has held multiple positions at the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, including as Director of the Minister's Cabinet from 2019 to 2021, Director of State Protocol from 2018 to 2019, Director of Security Policies from 2015 to 2018, and Director for the Americas, Asia and Africa from 2014 to 2015.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Koreshi served as Counsellor in the Cabinet of the Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2010 to 2011, and at the Albanian Embassies in Stockholm and Prague as Special Envoy for the Swedish and Czech Presidencies of the European Union.  From 2003 to 2008, Mr. Koreshi served as First Secretary at the Embassy of Albania in London.  He began his diplomatic career in 2002 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, working on international organizations and Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe affairs.

Mr. Koreshi graduated from the University of Tirana and holds a Master of Science in Diplomatic Studies from the University of Westminster in London.
