New Permanent Representative of Algeria Presents Credentials to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva

Idris Latreche, the new Permanent Representative of Algeria to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Tatiana Valovaya, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Latreche had been serving as the Chief of Cabinet to the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs of Algeria from 2024 to 2026, where he had earlier served as the Senior Advisor to the Minister of State from 2020 to 2024.  He served as a Senior Advisor at the Permanent Mission of the African Union to the United Nations in New York from 2014 to 2020.  He also served as First Secretary at the Permanent Mission of Algeria to the United Nations in New York from 2011 to 2014.  From 2008 to 2010, Mr. Latreche was a Human Rights and Humanitarian Affairs Officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During his career, Mr. Latreche has been a member of Algerian delegations to the sessions of the United Nations General Assembly from 2010 to 2026, as well as to regional summits and multilateral meetings.  He holds a diploma from the National School of Administration, Diplomatic Section (2004–2008) and is married with two children.
