Webcast
Live, gavel-to-gavel, multilingual webcast coverage of UN meetings on the global UN Web TV platform allows the public to follow multilateral discussions and experience the work of the UN in real time. The videos remain available on the platform for on-demand viewing.
In Geneva, UN Human Rights Council and UN Human Rights Treaty Body meetings are webcast on UN Web TV. Other meetings organized or co-sponsored by UN entities can also be webcast upon request; specific fees apply. A selected number of conference rooms at the Palais des Nations are webcast-enabled. Webcast requests should be signaled at the moment of the room booking to Meetings Management Service, who will then put requesting entities in touch with UNTV to coordinate further.

Accreditation of Journalists
Letter of assignment on official letterhead of a media organization from the Publisher/Assignment Editor or Bureau Chief. It should specify the name and functional title of the journalist and the period for which accreditation is sought at the United Nations.
Print media representatives are required to submit two recent issues of the publication. Radio and TV media representatives must submit recordings of two recent reports.
Independent TV production companies are required to provide a letter from a broadcast organization which intends to air their work.
Photographers are required to submit original tear sheets or photos with credits of the issuing organization.
The web publication must belong to a registered company, such as a media organization, and have a specific, verifiable non-web address and a telephone number.
The online journal requesting accreditation for its correspondent must have a substantial amount of original news content or commentary or analysis on international issues.
If the website is new, the applicant seeking accreditation must provide the latest data on the site’s visitors or other relevant material (press citations, etc.) about the outlet’s audience.
The applicant must have an established record of having written extensively on international issues and must present copies of three recently published articles with his/her byline.
No accreditation will be granted without the letter from the media organization, the press card and passport (or national ID for Swiss citizen) of the applicant.
Journalists must present a valid passport from a State recognized by the United Nations General Assembly, along with a press card. A press card is a document issued by a government authority or a media organization stating that the owner is a journalist.
Where required, non-nationals of the host government must also confirm their right to work as a journalist by providing a relevant visa or employment authorization document.
No accreditation will be granted without the letter from the media organization, the press card and passport (or national ID for Swiss citizen) of the applicant.
UN Geneva must be satisfied that the individuals applying for accreditation are bona fide media professionals and represent bona fide media organizations (formally registered as a media organization in a country recognized by the United Nations General Assembly).
Accreditation will only be given with proof of a track record of reporting for media organizations on international affairs. Media accreditation is not accorded to the information outlets of non-governmental organizations. Applications are considered on a case-by-case basis and the decisions of UN Geneva are final. UN Geneva reserves the right to deny or withdraw accreditation of journalists from media organizations whose activities run counter to the principles of the Charter of the United Nations, or who abuse the privileges so extended or put the accreditation to improper use or act in a way not consistent with the principles of the Organization.
Once your request for accreditation is accepted, your badge may be picked up from the Security Identification Unit at the Pregny Gate, Building F, 8 - 14 Avenue de la Paix, 1211 Geneva 10.
Media accreditation is only given for coverage of United Nations activities at UNOG and does not constitute an endorsement for any other purpose. At any time, the Media Accreditation and Liaison Unit may revoke accreditation if it is put to improper use; if it is determined that the accreditation has not been used to cover United Nations events; if it has been used to abuse the privileges so extended; or if personal or public conduct is not consistent with the best interests of the Organization. The press pass must not be loaned to another person; UN Security will confiscate any pass in the possession of any individual to whom it was not issued.
A temporary press accreditation is given for the duration of the event covered by the correspondent for a maximum of three months.
Before accreditation is renewed, the Information Service requires work samples that demonstrate active engagement in covering the activities of the United Nations. Samples must be unaltered press clippings or media products of the accredited organization with bylines of the individual requesting renewal.
If your media ground pass is lost or stolen, you must immediately report it to the Security Identification Unit at the Pregny Gate, Building F, 8 - 14 Avenue de la Paix, 1211 Geneva 10, tel. +41 (0)22 917 50 02. You will be required to complete a form in order to obtain a new badge.

Press conferences organized in the press room by UN entities are filmed by UNTV, and the footage is made available on https://www.unognewsroom.org.
For any other specific needs, the Design and Printing Section provides photo and filming services to its clients. This includes photo and video shooting, photo and video editing, as well as captioning and animations. However, the Section does not provide filming or streaming of entire conferences.
If you are organizing an official press conference at the Palais des Nations through the UN Information Service, where all UN accredited media can attend, the Service will put at your disposal a press conference room or a stake-out position. You can hold interviews there after the press conference.
If you wish to organize a briefing with a select group of journalists or media outlets only, you need to book a room with the Division of Conference Management for this purpose.
The Information Service sends out official press conference announcements and notes to correspondents regarding UN events and activities to journalists accredited to the United Nations in Geneva.
UN agencies and Member States must send their own press materials to the media.
The UN Information Service does not organize fully virtual press conferences.
The Information Service facilitates hybrid press conferences (using Zoom) only when a UN entity is the sponsor or co-sponsor of the press conference and moderates the event. Journalists and speakers then have the option to participate online but the moderator needs to be physically present in the press room at the Palais des Nations.
For Member States-sponsored press conferences, only the in-person mode is available.
Media outlets with press accreditation can broadcast live from the Palais des Nations using their own equipment. For large news events, broadcasters can connect their equipment to a UNTV live feed. No live standups are allowed during press conferences and stakeouts or in meeting areas while the event is still in progress. No recording or live transmission is allowed in areas reserved for coffee breaks or food service.
UN agencies and Member States can organize press conferences at the Palais des Nations. To organize a press conference, please contact the United Nations Information Service, Solange Behoteguy Cortes and Ali Khaffane, who will guide you through the process.
Member States or UN entities can bring their own photographer or videographer to document their press conference or participation in an official UN event or conference. The official videographer and photographer must be accredited as part of the official delegation, or organizers of the event, and not as press, as they are not media representatives.
No. The Information Service only provides the list of UN Geneva accredited journalists to the spokespersons of UN entities based in Geneva, in line with guidance on data protection.
Member States or NGOs that would like to send out press materials to journalists accredited at the Palais des Nations can reach out to the Association of United Nations Accredited Correspondents (ACANU), which could potentially share your material with their members.
