Media Statement from the Office of the Special Envoy for Syria

The Special Envoy for Syria, Mr. Staffan de Mistura, has just briefed the Security Council by Videoconference from the last leg of his trip, on the implementation of Security Council resolution 2268.

Mr. de Mistura arrived in Tehran yesterday evening and met with Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs in Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.

He also held meetings with Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem in Damascus on Monday and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Judeh in Amman on Sunday.

As announced previously, the Special Envoy will be returning to Geneva tomorrow, Wednesday 13 April, for the resumption of the Intra-Syrian Talks. In this regard he will be meeting with the High Negotiations Committee delegation in the afternoon of the same day.
