Press Statement by Office of the Special Envoy for Syria on the resumption of intra-Syrian talks

The Special Envoy for Syria wishes to announce he will convene a seventh round of the intra-Syrian talks in Geneva. The target date for arrival of invitees is 9 July, with the round beginning on 10 July. He intends to convene further rounds of talks in August and in September. As in previous rounds, invitations will be sent in keeping with Security Council resolution 2254 (2015).

In addition to the formal sessions of the intra-Syrian talks convened by the Special Envoy on the baskets of the agenda, the expert meetings of the consultative process on constitutional and legal issues he established during the sixth round will continue. The Special Envoy encourages the invitees to prepare actively and looks forward to them engaging in an intensified set of discussions within this framework.

يعتزم المبعوث الخاص للأمم المتحدة لسوريا الدعوة لعقد الجولة السابعة من المحادثات السورية – السورية في جنيف. ومن المقرر أن يصل المدعوين يوم 9 تموز، على أن تبدأ جولة المفاوضات في 10 تموز. كما يعتزم المبعوث الخاص الدعوة لجولات أخرى خلال شهري آب وأيلول. وفقاً لما جرت عليه العادة في الجولات السابقة، سوف ترسل الدعوات وفقاً لقرار مجلس الأمن رقم 2254 (2015).
إلى جانب الجولات الرسمية للمحادثات السورية – السورية التي ستناقش السلات الواردة في جدول الأعمال، سوف تستمر اجتماعات الخبراء في إطار العملية التشاورية حول المسائل الدستورية والقانونية التي أنشأها المبعوث الخاص خلال الجولة السادسة من المحادثات. هذا، ويشجع المبعوث الخاص المدعوين على التحضير الجيد لهذه الاجتماعات، كما يتطلع إلى مشاركتهم الفعالة في النقاشات التي ستُجرى في هذا الإطار.
