New Permanent Representative of Singapore Presents Credentials to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva
Jaya Ratnam, the new Permanent Representative of Singapore to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Tatiana Valovaya, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.
Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Ratnam had been serving as Singapore’s Ambassador to Viet Nam since 2021. He was Singapore’s Ambassador to Belgium, concurrently accredited to the Netherlands, Luxembourg and the European Union, from 2016 to 2020. He also served as Singapore’s High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam from 2012 to 2016.
Since joining Singapore’s Foreign Service in 1991, he has held a variety of other positions overseas, including in the Permanent Mission of Singapore in Geneva, the Embassy of Singapore in Jakarta, and the High Commission of Singapore in Kuala Lumpur.
Mr. Ratnam holds a Master of International Public Policy with a concentration on Southeast Asian studies, from the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies, Johns Hopkins University in Washington D.C., United States (2000), and a Bachelor of Arts from the National University of Singapore (1991). He is married with three children.
