New Permanent Representative of Botswana Presents Credentials to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva
Nthisana Motsete-Phillips, the new Permanent Representative of Botswana to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented her credentials to Tatiana Valovaya, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.
Prior to her appointment to Geneva, Ms. Motsete-Phillips had been working as the Deputy Director of the Corporate Services and Facilities Department at the International Monetary Fund in Washington D.C. since 2023. Throughout her career, she has held a variety of high-profile positions in multilateral organizations, including as Director of the Administration and General Services Division at the World Trade Organization in Geneva (2015–2023); Director of Finance and Administration at the Consortium of the Consultative Group on International Agriculture Research in Montpellier (2014–2015); and Assistant Secretary General of the Africa, Caribbean and Pacific Group of States Secretariat in Brussels (2010–2014).
From 1993 until 2010, Ms. Motsete-Phillips worked in several private sector companies in Botswana, specialising in investment management and finance. Exceptionally, between 2002 and 2004, she held the position of Chief of Accounts at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa in Addis Ababa. She also worked in the Trust Funds and Technical Cooperation Unit of the Accounting Division at United Nations Headquarters in New York from 1996 to 2002.
Ms. Motsete-Phillips holds a Master of Business Administration from Baruch College, City University of New York (2002) and a Bachelor of Commerce degree in accounting from the University of Botswana (1993).
