New Permanent Representative of Venezuela Presents Credentials to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva

Presentation of Credentials

Alexander Gabriel Yánez Deleuze, the new Permanent Representative of Venezuela to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Tatiana Valovaya, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Yánez Deleuze had been serving as Venezuela’s Ambassador to Peru from 2021 to 2024, a post he also held from 2010 to 2014.  He was Ambassador to Bolivia from 2020 to 2021, and served as Chargé d'Affaires in Belize from 2009 to 2010. 

From 2019 to 2020, Mr. Yánez Deleuze served as Deputy Minister for Multilateral Affairs and from 2014 to 2019, he was the Deputy Minister for Latin America and the Caribbean.  Between 2005 and 2009, he held senior positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and also participated in several national delegations to the United Nations.  He has taught classes at the Central University of Venezuela and at the Bolivarian University of Venezuela.

Mr. Yánez Deleuze graduated from the Central University of Venezuela with a degree in political science, majoring in international relations.  He also has a Magister Scientiarum in military history from the Instituto de Altos Estudios de Seguridad de la Nación "Antonio José de Sucre" of Venezuela.
