New Permanent Representative of Denmark Presents Credentials to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva

Presentation of Credentials

Erik Brøgger Rasmussen, the new Permanent Representative of Denmark to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Tatiana Valovaya, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Rasmussen had been serving as State Secretary and Chief Operating Officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark since 2019.  He has served as Head of the Information Technology Department (2018-2019); of the Finance Department (2017-2018); of the Development Policy and Financing Department (2016-2017); and of the Technical Advisory Services Department (2015-2016) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.  He has held various other posts since he joined the Ministry in 1999.

Mr. Rasmussen has served as the Head of Mission, Chargé d’Affaires at the Danish Embassy in Harare, Zimbabwe from 2013 to 2015; as the interim Danish Representative to the Palestinian Authority in Ramallah in 2013; as the Deputy Head of Mission at the Royal Danish Embassy in Warsaw, Poland from 2010 to 2013; and as First Secretary (Private Sector Development) at the Royal Danish Embassy in Accra, Ghana from 2002 to 2005. 

He further worked as a Junior Professional Officer for the United Nations Development Programme Thailand office between 1997 and 1999, and for its Guyana office between 1996 and 1997.

Mr. Rasmussen has a master’s degree in development economics (1994) and a bachelor’s degree in economics (1990), both obtained from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark.  He also graduated from the Academy of Physical Education, Ollerup, Denmark (1991).  He was born on 3 June 1968.
