New Permanent Representative of Iraq presents credentials to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva

Presentation of Credentials

 

Abdul-Karim Hashim Mostafa, the new Permanent Representative of Iraq to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Tatiana Valovaya, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Hashim Mostafa had been serving as Senior Undersecretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iraq since October 2019. He served as an Advisor to the Prime Minister of Iraq from November 2018 to October 2019. From April 2017 to November 2018, he was Iraq’s Ambassador to Morocco. From July 2010 to September 2016, he was Iraq’s Ambassador to China, and from December 2004 to July 2007, he was Iraq’s Ambassador to Russia.

Mr. Hashim Mostafa was an Ambassador at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iraq from September 2016 to April 2017. He was Undersecretary for Administrative and Financial Affairs at the Ministry from July 2007 to July 2010.

Mr. Hashim Mostafa has a Diploma in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Grenoble, France (1981-1984) and a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the same University (1984-1987). He was born on 6 March 1959, and is married with three children.
