NEW PERMANENT OBSERVER OF PALESTINE PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNOG

Presentation of Credentials

Ibrahim Mohammad Khraishi, the new Permanent Observer of Palestine to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his letter of nomination to Sergei Ordzhonikidze, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Mr. Khraishi has previously held the posts of Palestine's Special Envoy to the European Union Presidency, Assistant Minister for Multilateral Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Palestine, Assistant Minister for General and Consular Affairs at the Ministry, and Assistant Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.

A member of the Fatah Revolutionary Council (Palestine Liberation Organization-PLO) and the Central Council of the PLO, Mr. Khraishi has also served as Director General for the Department for Popular Organizations of the PLO and Director of the Negotiations Affairs Department of the PLO. He also held the post of President of the General Union of Palestine Students.

Mr. Khraishi has a degree in general medicine from Belgrade University; and a diploma in international human rights law from the International Center for Human Rights in Strasbourg, France. He has also attended courses on the environment and sustainable development and on international humanitarian law.

He was born on 26 March, 1956 in Tulkarm, Palestine. He is married with one child.
