World Down Syndrome Day 2023

    Celebration of World Down Syndrome Day

    On Monday 20 March 2023, the Division of Conference Management at UN Geneva is organizing in collaboration with Down Syndrome International a series of activities to promote disability inclusion and diversity.

    The afternoon will start with a dance performance by the artists with Down syndrome from the Théâtre de l’Esquisse, followed by an Assembly gathering for the first-time advocates of Down syndrome. In the early evening, the celebration will continue with the projection of the short film “Trio”. Please find the complete program below.

    The celebration is held in person and is opened to the public: registration via Indico is mandatory for all external participants.

    Assembly with Down Syndrome International.
    Reuniting for the first time ever self-advocates with Down Syndrome from around the world to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day, hear the views of self-advocates with Down syndrome from around the world, and create a statement about the right to easy-to-understand communication.

    4-4:30 p.m. 
    Coffee Break organised with the sponsor of the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Lithuania.

    4:30-6:30 p.m. | Room XXV
    Screening of the short film « Trio » in presence of the producer, organized by the Cultural Activities Programme, the Permanent Mission of Mongolia and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).
