Excellencies,
Ladies and gentlemen,

I am honoured to join you today for the sixth edition of the Asian Festival. I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the Asian Ambassadors’ Wives Association for organizing this beautiful event, which brings us together in an annual celebration of Asia’s rich and remarkable cultural diversity.

The theme of this year’s event - “Wonders of Asia” - invites us to discover the extraordinary sites, people, traditions and stories of 25 participating countries, showcasing the rich tapestry of Asia.

At a time when our world faces increasing divisions, cultural celebrations such as this Festival provide an opportunity to pause and reflect upon the value of our shared diversity. By encouraging curiosity, respect, and openness, these events play an important role in building bridges between communities and strengthening mutual understanding.

The United Nations Office at Geneva is proud to champion cultural exchange as a means of fostering dialogue and cooperation. Through our Cultural Activities Programme, we host many exhibitions, performances and other initiatives that provide opportunities for Member States to share their cultures with the broader international community.

I would also like to take this opportunity to applaud the Asian Ambassadors’ Wives Association for its fundraising activities and its efforts to support women and children in vulnerable situations, particularly through initiatives aimed at improving access to health care and education. Such contributions are a tangible expression of solidarity and compassion, and they are deeply appreciated.

Ladies and gentlemen,

As we celebrate the many cultures represented at this Festival today, may we strengthen the bonds between our communities and remind ourselves of the beauty and value that come from our diversity. Let us celebrate not only Asia's cultures and traditions, but also the spirit of friendship, solidarity, and cooperation that guides us towards a more peaceful and inclusive world for all.

Thank you.
