New Permanent Representative of Iran Presents Credentials to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva

Presentation of Credentials

 

Ali Bahreini, the new Permanent Representative of Iran to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Tatiana Valovaya, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Bahreini had been serving as Advisor to the Vice Minister for Political Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 2016. He served as Iran’s Ambassador to Ethiopia from 2012 to 2016, and concurrently as Iran’s Permanent Representative to the African Union.

A career diplomat, Mr. Bahreini was Director of the Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2009 to 2012, and Deputy Director of the Department from 2006 to 2009. He was also a Desk Officer there from 1999 to 2002. He was posted at Iran’s Embassy in Berlin from 2002 to 2006.

Mr. Bahreini has a PhD in international law. He was born in 1971.
