NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF CÔTE D’IVOIRE PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNITED NATIONS OFFICE AT GENEVA
Presentation of Credentials
Kouadio Adjoumani, the new Permanent Representative of Côte d’Ivoire to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Sergei Ordzhonikidze, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.
Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Adjoumani had been serving as Ambassador of Côte d’Ivoire to the Netherlands since 2008. He served as Diplomatic Counselor to the Prime Minister of Côte d’Ivoire from 2003 to 2008, and Technical Counselor at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2002 to 2003. He was Ambassador to Great Britain and Ireland from 1996 to 2002.
A career diplomat, Mr. Adjoumani has held a number of posts since he joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1979, including delegate to the United Nations specialized bodies in Vienna (1991 to 1994); Counselor at the Permanent Mission of Côte d’Ivoire to the United Nations Office at Geneva (1987 to 1994); Charge d’Affaires at the Embassy of Côte d’Ivoire in Bonn (1986 to 1987) and First Counselor at the same embassy (1984 to 1986); and trainee on disarmament issues at the United Nations Office at Geneva and at United Nations Headquarters in New York (1983).
Mr. Adjoumani has a B.A. in arts from the Sorbonne University, Paris IV; and a diploma in international relations from the EFAP Communications School in Paris. He was born in 1952 in Goumere, Côte d’Ivoire and is married with three children.
