NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF MYANMAR PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO THE DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF THE UNITED NATIONS OFFICE AT GENEVA

Mr. Kyaw Moe Tun, the new Permanent Representative of Myanmar to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Michael Møller, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Kyaw Moe Tun had been serving as Director-General, International Organizations and Economic Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Myanmar, since September 2016. He was Deputy Director-General of the same Department from March 2015 to September 2016, and its Director from January 2015 to March 2015. Mr. Kyaw Moe Tun served as Minister Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of Myanmar to the United Nations Office at Geneva from April 2012 to March 2015. He also served as First Secretary/Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of Myanmar to the United Nations in New York from July 2005 to January 2009.

A career diplomat, Mr. Kyaw Moe Tun joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in November 1993. He has held various posts at the Ministry, and he was also posted as Third/Second Secretary at the Embassy of Myanmar in Jakarta, Indonesia from July 1997 to May 2001.

Mr. Kyaw Moe Tun has a Master of Business Administration from the International University of Japan, and a Bachelors of Arts in international relations from the University of Yangon. He was born on 28 July 1969 and is married with one daughter.
