New Permanent Representative of Germany Presents Credentials to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva
Antje Leendertse, the new Permanent Representative of Germany to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented her credentials to Tatiana Valovaya, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.
Prior to her appointment to Geneva, Ms. Leendertse had been serving as Permanent Representative of Germany to the United Nations in New York since September 2021. This is not her first appointment to Geneva – Ms. Leendertse previously held the position of Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office at Geneva from 2017 to 2018.
Since joining the German foreign service in 1990, she has served in numerous high-ranking positions, including State Secretary of the Federal Foreign Office (2019-2021); Political Director, Federal Foreign Office (2018-2019); Head of the Task Force for German Chairmanship of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (2015-2017); and Federal Government Commissioner for Disarmament and Arms Control at the Federal Foreign Office (2014-2015). She also has experience working at the German embassies in Moscow, London and Helsinki.
Ms. Leendertse obtained a master’s degree in medieval and modern history, romance languages, economics and philosophy from the University of Cologne in 1989. Born in Moers, Germany on 7 March 1963, she is married and has one daughter.
