New Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan Presents Credentials to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva

Presentation of Credentials

Eldiyor Toshmatov, the new Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Tatiana Valovaya, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Toshmatov led the Secretariat of the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan since 2022.  He was a Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of Uzbekistan to the United Nations Office at Geneva from 2019 to 2022, and also served as Attaché at the Mission from 2011 to 2014.

During his career, he has held several positions within Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including Head of the Organizational Control Department from 2018 to 2019, and Assistant to the Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2017 to 2018.  He served as Second Secretary at the Department of Cooperation with European Countries and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization from 2014 to 2017, and also served as Attaché and Third Secretary at the Department from 2008 to 2011.

Mr. Toshmatov attended Webster University in Tashkent in 2023, the Academy of Public Administration under the President of Uzbekistan in 2015, and the University of World Economy and Diplomacy in Tashkent from 2000 to 2005. He was born on 3 August 1982 in Khanabad, Uzbekistan, and is married with three children.
