NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF DENMARK PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO THE DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF THE UNITED NATIONS OFFICE AT GENEVA

Morten Jespersen, the new Permanent Representative of Denmark to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Michael Møller, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Jespersen had been serving as Under-Secretary for Global Development and Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark since 2013. He served as the Ambassador of Denmark to Nepal from 2010 to 2013, and Head of the Development Policy Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2007 to 2010.

Mr. Jespersen served as a Counsellor at the Danish Mission to the United Nations Headquarters in New York from 2004 to 2007. He was Deputy Head of Department at the Africa and Humanitarian Affairs Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2001 to 2004. He also served as Secretary to the Danish Minister for Development Cooperation from 1998 to 2001. He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1992.

Mr. Jespersen has a Master of Political Science, post graduate degree East Asian Area Studies (1992). He was born on 13 January 1964 and is married with three children.
