NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF ARGENTINA PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO THE DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF THE UNITED NATIONS OFFICE AT GENEVA

Presentation of Credentials

Hector Marcelo Cima, the new Permanent Representative of Argentina to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Michael Møller, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment, Mr. Cima had been Deputy Permanent Representative of Argentina to the United Nations Office at Geneva since 2015. A career diplomat, his foreign posts include working at the Embassy of Argentina in Washington D.C., United States, from 1998 to 2000 and from 2003 to 2008. He was also posted at the Mission of Argentina to the European Union in Brussels, Belgium from 1989 to 1994.

At the Foreign Ministry in Buenos Aires, Mr. Cima served as Director General for export promotion; Director for capital goods and technology export promotion; acting Under Secretary for investment development; and member of the Cabinet of the Secretary for international economic relations and the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Mr. Cima has a Master degree in public management from the University of Maryland in the United States (2010); a Master degree in international relations and international economic policy from Belgrano University in Argentina (1987/1988); and a Bachelor degree in law from the Catholic University in Argentina (1983). He was born in 1959 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He is married with three children.
