Performed almost exclusively by Rohingya actors, "Lost Land" is a poignant yet tender odyssey told from a child’s perspective, giving a face to an entire stateless people.
Hoping to reunite with their displaced family, 4-year-old Shafi and his 9-year-old sister Somira leave a Rohingya camp in Bangladesh to travel to Malaysia. Since 1982, the state has no longer recognized the Rohingya as citizens, rendering them stateless and depriving them of many fundamental rights. In their country, they face discrimination, violence, and persecution. Guided by their childlike perspective, the brother and sister embark on a perilous journey.
After the screening join us for a discussion on :
“The right to seek safety: a shared protection for all of us.”
This event is part of the World Refugee Day.
