Special Envoy de Mistura continues his consultations on the establishment of a Syrian-led, Syrian-owned and UN-facilitated constitutional committee, within the framework of the Geneva process and in accordance with Security Council resolution 2254 (2015).
In this context, the Special Envoy met with the Secretary-General in New York on 13 August. Today he was in Washington, D.C., where at the invitation of United States Secretary of State Michael Pompeo, he had an in-depth discussion with him on the situation in Syria and the potential initiatives related to the political process.
