New Permanent Representative of Pakistan Presents Credentials to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva
Tahir Hussain Andrabi, the new Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Tatiana Valovaya, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.
Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Andrabi had been serving as Spokesperson for Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Additional Foreign Secretary for Arms Control, Disarmament and International Security from 2023 to 2025. He was Pakistan’s Ambassador to Tunisia from 2021 to 2023, concurrently accredited to Malta. Before that, he served as Deputy Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations Office at Geneva from 2017 to 2021. Other diplomatic assignments that Mr. Andrabi has held in Pakistan’s missions abroad include Beijing 2013–2015 and 2001-2005 and New York at the United Nations 2009–2013.
He also served at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Headquarters as Director of the Foreign Minister’s Office 2015-2017, Director India 2015, Director of the Foreign Secretary’s Office 2008-2009, and Deputy Director of the Foreign Secretary’s Office 2006-2007. He joined Pakistan’s Foreign Service in 1999 where he worked as a Desk Officer/Deputy Director dealing with Africa, India and Kashmir Affairs in varying times until 2006.
Mr. Andrabi holds a degree from King Edward Medical University in Lahore, Pakistan. He also holds a Graduate Certification in Chinese Language from Beijing Language and Culture University, China and a Fellowship from the Institute for the Study of Diplomacy, Georgetown University, Washington DC, United States. He is married with a son and a daughter.
