New Permanent Representative of Bulgaria Presents Credentials to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva
Angel Bandjov, the new Permanent Representative of Bulgaria to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Tatiana Valovaya, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.
Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Bandjov had been serving since 2021 as Director of Human Rights within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria.
Since joining the Ministry in 2003, he has held multiple roles in its Security Policy Directorate, serving as Head of the Arms Control and Non-Proliferation Department (2015-2017) and as a Desk Officer in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization Department (2003-2006 and 2009-2011).
He served at the Permanent Delegation of Bulgaria to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization in Brussels from 2017 to 2021, first as Counsellor and then starting 2018 as Head of the Political Section. He also served as Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Bulgaria in Skopje, North Macedonia (2014-2015), among other positions. From 2001 to 2003, he was a desk officer at the Ministry of Justice.
Mr. Bandjov holds two masters’ degrees – one in international relations from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” and one in European political studies from the College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium. Other than his native Bulgarian, he speaks English and French, and has some knowledge of Spanish, Russian and the South Slavic languages.
