New Permanent Representative of Bhutan Presents Credentials to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva

Presentation of Credentials

Tshering Lhadn, the new Permanent Representative of Bhutan to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented her credentials to Tatiana Valovaya, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to her appointment to Geneva, Ms. Lhadn had been serving as Director of the Department of Economic and Tech Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade of Bhutan from June 2023 to July 2025. She served as Deputy Permanent Representative and Chargé d’Affaires a.í of Bhutan to the United Nations Office at Geneva from April 2017 to December 2021.

Ms. Lhadn has also held positions as the Chief of the Regional Cooperation Division, Department of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation from January 2022 to September 2023; and as the Chief of the Political and International Security Division at the Department of Multilateral Affairs from September 2014 to April 2017.  From 1996 until 2014, Ms. Lhadn held several other positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Home Affairs, and between 2008 to 2012, she served as First Secretary at the Royal Bhutanese Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand.

Ms. Lhadn holds a master’s degree in international and cultural studies from Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan (2004 to 2006); and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Delhi University in New Delhi, India (1992 to 1995).  She also attended an Indian Administrative Service Professional Course at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (1997 to 1999).  She was born on 11 March 1972.
