New Permanent Representative of El Salvador Presents Credentials to the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva

Presentation of Credentials

 

Rina Yessenia Lozano Gallegos, the new Permanent Representative of El Salvador to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented her credentials to Tatiana Valovaya, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to her appointment to Geneva, Ms. Lozano Gallegos had been serving as Director-General for foreign policy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of El Salvador since October 2019. She was Director of the Office of Analysis of International Migration of the Vice-Ministry for Salvadorans Abroad at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from February 2016 to October 2019, and from September 2015 to January 2016, she was an Advisor to the Vice-Ministry for Salvadorans Abroad.

A career diplomat, Ms. Lozano Gallegos served as Director of North, South America and the Caribbean at the General Directorate of Foreign Policy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from August 2012 to September 2015. She was an Executive Assistant at the Minister’s Office from October 2010 to August 2012. She also has experience teaching at University and has a number of research papers and publications.

Ms. Lozano Gallegos was born on 3 October 1982 in Cabanas, El Salvador. She has a master’s degree in diplomacy from the Specialised Institute of Higher Education for Diplomatic Training in San Salvador, El Salvador (2013-2018); a master’s degree in applied political science from the School of Politics and High Government “Goberna America Latina” and Instituto Universitario de Investigación Ortega y Gasset in Madrid, Spain (2011-2012); and a bachelor’s degree in international relations from Universidad de El Salvador in El Salvador (2002-2008).
