Adopts Concluding Observations and Recommendations on Reports of Uruguay, El Salvador, Mali and the Philippines

The Committee on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families today concluded its twentieth session after adopting its concluding observations and recommendations on the reports of Uruguay, El Salvador, Mali and the Philippines.

The concluding observations and recommendations on the reports of Uruguay, El Salvador, Mali and the Philippines will be available on the Committee’s webpage from early next week.

At the concluding meeting, Committee Chairperson Francisco Carrion Mena highlighted that during the two-week session, the Committee elected a new Bureau and inducted new members; adopted the concluding observations and recommendations on the reports that had been reviewed; adopted lists of issues for the reports of Cape Verde, Guinea, Seychelles, Timore Leste and Turkey, which would be considered in future sessions; held a Day of General Discussion on workplace exploitation and workplace protection; held a meeting with the High Commissioner for Human Rights on the promotion of the Convention; and adopted its annual report to the General Assembly on the nineteenth and twentieth session.

The twenty-first session of the Committee will be held from 1 to 5 September 2014 at the Palais Wilson in Geneva, when the Committee will consider the reports of Belize and Ghana.
