100TH SESSION OF THE INTERNATIONAL LABOUR CONFERENCE OPENED BY DIRECTOR-GENERAL

The Director-General opened the 100th session of the International Labour Conference today and highlighted the need to place employment at the centre of joint United Nations-International Labour Organization (ILO) efforts to reduce poverty, fight climate change and overcome resource constraints. He referred to Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, who underscored the need to take swift action to create an enabling environment for social inclusion and social protection for all in order to unlock the full productive potential of all nations and people.
