NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF LATVIA PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO THE DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF THE UNITED NATIONS OFFICE AT GENEVA

Presentation of Credentials

 

Bahtijors Hasans the new Permanent Representative of Latvia to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Tatiana Valovaya, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Hasans had been serving as Director General of the Consular and Diplomatic Facilities Directorate at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia since October 2017. He served at the Permanent Mission of Latvia to the United Nations, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, and other international organizations in Vienna from August 2013 to October 2017. He was the Ambassador of Latvia to Kosovo from June 2010 to August 2013.

A career diplomat, Mr. Hasans was the Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Latvia to Finland from June 2006 to June 2010. He also served at the Embassy of Latvia to Sweden from October 2001 to July 2004, and the Embassy of Latvia to Uzbekistan from June 1994 to November 1997.

Mr. Hasans was born in Uzbekistan on 5 June 1969. He has a degree from the University of Latvia, Faculty of Law (1997-2004) and another from the University of Latvia, Faculty of Philology (1988-1993).
