NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF SOMALIA PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO THE DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF THE UNITED NATIONS OFFICE AT GENEVA

Ebyan Mahamed Salah, the new Permanent Representative of Somalia to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented her credentials to Tatiana Valovaya, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to her appointment to Geneva, Ms. Salah had been serving as Somalia’s Ambassador to India since December 2007. She was a policy analyst and gender advisor to the Prime Minister of the Transitional Federal Government of Somalia from 2004 to 2007, also serving as senior focal point for the Reconstruction and Development Programme for Somalia. She has also organized international conferences on Somalia.

Ms. Salah has a master’s degree in sociology from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada (1997-1999) and a bachelor’s degree in sociology and anthropology from the same University (1991-1996). She also has a Bachelor of Commerce in business administration and management from Pune College in India (1983-1986).
