NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF SPAIN PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNITED NATIONS OFFICE AT GENEVA

Cristobal Gonzalez-Aller Jurado, the new Permanent Representative of Spain to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Michael Møller, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Gonzalez-Aller Jurado had been serving as Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation since June 2014. He served as Spain’s Ambassador to Turkey from January 2011 to June 2014, and as the Deputy Permanent Representative of Spain to the European Union in Brussels from January 2003 to January 2011. He served as the Director General for the coordination of the internal market and other community policies of the Secretariat of State for European affairs from 1998 to 2003.

Mr. Gonzalez-Aller Jurado started his diplomatic career in 1981, serving as Second Secretary at the Embassy of Spain in Zaire from 1981 to 1984, as Spain’s Deputy Consul in Germany from 1984 to 1987, and as Deputy Ambassador of Spain to Luxembourg from 1987 to 1990.

Mr. Gonzalez-Aller Jurado has a diploma of international studies from the Diplomatic School and a law degree. He was born on 5 September 1955 in Cordoba, Spain. He is married and has three children.
