NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF BRUNEI DARUSSALAM PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNOG

Presentation of Credentials

Abu Sufian Haji Ali, the new Permanent Representative of Brunei Darussalam to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Haji Ali had been serving as Director of the Department of International Trade at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brunei Darussalam since 2008. He served at the Permanent Mission of Brunei Darussalam to the United Nations Office at Geneva from 1995 to 2001, first as Second Secretary, then as First Secretary and finally as Chargé d’Affaires.

A career diplomat, Mr. Haji Ali joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1990 as a research officer in the Department of Economics. He has also served in the Department of Political Affairs (1994-1995); the Department of Policy and Planning (2001 to 2004); the Department of International Organizations (2004 to 2005); and the Department of Multilateral Economics (2005 to 2008).

Mr. Haji Ali has a B.A. in international relations from Staffordshire Polytechnic, United Kingdom( 1990). He was born on 23 March 1966 and is married with three children.
