NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF URUGUAY PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNOG

Presentation of Credentials

Laura Dupuy Lasserre, the new Permanent Representative of Uruguay to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented her credentials to Sergei Ordzhonikidze, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to her appointment to Geneva, since October 2008, Ms. Dupuy Lasserre had been serving as Director of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Between 2007 and 2008, she was Director for the Americas, responsible for bilateral relations with the 34 countries in the region.

A career diplomat, Ms. Dupuy Lasserre worked at the Directorate of Environment from 1992 to 1994. From 1995 to 2000, she served as delegate of Uruguay to the United Nations Office and International Organizations in Geneva. During 2000 and 2001 she worked at the General Directorate on Integration and MERCOSUR. And between 2002 and 2007, she served as Alternate Representative to the Organization of American States in Washington, D.C.

Ms. Dupuy Lasserre received a degree in International Relations from the University of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay in 1990. Born in Montevideo on 18 September 1967, she is married with one son.
