NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF ITALY PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNOG
Presentation of Credentials
Laura Mirachian, the new Permanent Representative of Italy to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented her credentials to Sergei Ordzhonikidze, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.
Prior to her appointment to Geneva, Ms. Mirachian was, in 2006, Director General for European Countries at the Italian Foreign Ministry. From 2000 to 2004, she was Ambassador of Italy to Damascus, Syria. From 1995 to 2000, she worked at the Department of Political Affairs of the Ministry. From 1992 to 1995, she was Chargé d’Affaires at the Embassy of Italy in Belgrade.
From 1987 to 1992, Ms. Mirachian was First Counselor at the Permanent Mission of Italy to the international organizations in Geneva. From 1983 to 1987, she worked at the Department of Economic Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 1978 to 1983, Ms. Mirachian served as First Secretary for Commercial Affairs in Dublin, Ireland, and from 1975 to 1978, she was the Second Secretary at the Italian Embassy in Mogadishu, Somalia.
Ms. Mirachian was born in Padua, Italy, on 16 April 1948. She holds a degree in political science from the University of Padua.
