NEW PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF SUDAN PRESENTS CREDENTIALS TO DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF UNOG

Presentation of Credentials

John Ukec Lueth Ukec, the new Permanent Representative of Sudan to the United Nations Office at Geneva, today presented his credentials to Sergei Ordzhonikidze, the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva.

Prior to his appointment to Geneva, Mr. Ukec had been serving as Sudan’s Ambassador to the United States since 2006. From 1983 to 2005, he worked as a financial aid administrator at Iowa State University. From 1989 to 2005, he also worked as an adjunct professor at Des Moines Area Community College, Urban, Ankeny and Boone Campuses in the State of Iowa, teaching micro and macro economic business courses and advising foreign students among other duties. He was also an interpreter and translator at Bowne Global in Washington from 1998 to 2004. From 1988 to 1992, he was also a military officer with the Sudan Peoples Armed Forces.

Mr. Ukec has university and post graduate degrees from the University of Juba in Sudan, Command and Staff College in Omdurman, Sudan, Iowa State University and Oklahoma State University. He was born in Aweil, Sudan on 20 June 1947 and is married with two children.
