The United Nations General Assembly approved the establishment of the Strategic Heritage Plan (SHP) which includes the construction of a New Permanent Office Building of approximately 22,371 m2, together with the renovation of the main Palais des Nations complex. The priority of the renovation of the historic buildings which date back to the 1930’s and 1950’s will be ensuring health and fire safety and accessibility for persons with disabilities. The office building which dates back to the 1970’s will be partially demolished and renovated.

Contract 1 | 2017-2020
Construction of a New Permanent Office Building of approximately 22,371 m2.
Contract 2 | 2019 - 2022
Renovation of the Historic Buildings of the Palais des Nations, Buildings A, B, C, D, K and S, many of which date back to the 1930’s. The major component of the works 106,000+ m2 will be comprised of the renovation of Mechanical, Engineering and Plumbing (MEP) elements and asbestos removal. The renovation will be undertaken whilst maintaining the business activities and major conferences in the Palais des Nations.
Contract 3 | October 2021 – December 2023
Partial demolition of the 20,000+ m2 of Building E, which was built at the Palais des Nations during the 1970’s and, subsequently, the renovation of 50,000+ m2 of meeting room and office space within Building E.
